Steve Jobs...

A true design legend of the century...Steve Jobs has touched so many lives through his innovation and ingenuity...truly an icon of our era.

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service. When you’re a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.” — Steve Jobs

Also a patrons of the arts and architecture, Steve Jobs has also pushed the envelope in architecture.
Looking forward to his next great legacy the new Apple Campus in Cupertino, commisioned to Fosters +Partners, in 2015

“It’s a circle, and so it’s curved all the way around. As you know if you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There’s not a straight piece of glass on this building, it’s all curved. And we’ve used our experience in making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use.” — Steve Jobs, presenting the new Apple Campus to the city of Cupertino, CA.

Bali high...

Went and back... too fast, too short... that's how i would describe our Bali trip.
Last went to Bali about 6 years ago, so much has changed. Very commercialise now. Especially Ubud and Seminyak area. Prefer the old Bali. Traffic is pretty ridiculous too. Kinda like a mini Jakarta now.
Best thing we did was to hire a driver to drive us around. (pleasant guy name Putu). With JW in tow it was not easy but we survived, even managed to squeeze in a few art galleries and hotel hopping.
Went to see UMA in Ubud and UMA Sapna in Seminyak. Visited Kendra Gallery Gaya Gallery and BIASA artspace. We even managed to see a Chagall and Gauguin
Wished we covered more. But hey it was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. And relaxed we did.
Stayed at Alila Villas Uluwatu. Beautiful Site, well designed hotel but unfortunately service was not as we expected from an Alila hotel...
All in all, a good break and a well deserved holiday. I think JW enjoyed it the most.

I like how she decribes that interior is the life of the building and how interior is all about building a world...
how true...
