StarArchitect for Starbucks...

Stararchitect Kengo Kuma has done it again. This time for Starbucks in Dazaifu, Japan. This Starbucks is located along the street to the famous  Dazaifu Tenmangu, one of the most popular shrines in Japan also known as “the God for Examination,” with estimared 2million visitors wishing for success.

Success with this Starbucks, using 2000 timber batons spanning from 1.3m-4m and 6cm section. In total the batons cover 4.4km. That's a pretty long distance.

Using a weaving technique the architect has managed to weave the batons diagonally on one point to create a web-like interior envelope.

Will definitely visit this Starbucks if i ever get to Japan.

Muji...

Finally... MUJI is coming to town. Yay!!!

I've been an aren't fan of MUJI since my student days in the UK. MUJI is the whole package, it's not just about the design, somehow they have managed to create a whole lifestyle with their products. Their have everything you can imagine of, food, furniture, stationery, bath, bedding, bath, home and the list goes on...

Even attempted to bring it in about 12 years ago.
Back then, MUJI required for their subsidiary to be in the country before they will bring it in. So no go...
Nevertheless I'm just glad that they will be here soon, and will not need to pop over to Singapore to get my MUJI fix. :)

It will be opening in PAVILION sometime next month.

Love it for it's simplicity, clean lines and functional design. Will definitely making a bee line for it.

Au Natural

Currently coveting these two products by Netherland based Studio Joon&Jung.
Stylish, well designed and downright minimal with a dash of whimsical feel too.

Ideas for...

Digging around for some ideas for our new home, and stumbled upon this wonderful apartment in Amsterdam by Laura Alvarez Architecture.
Like the quirky stairs and it's simple details.
Also the warm material used for the island in the kitchen.

Happy Love to All

Dear All,

Happy LOVE Day!!!

via mignon kitchen

a little hug a little kiss to make our day,
all we need is love, especially the unconditional kinds...
for me its the when i look into both my boys eyes, SK and JW and just knowing...

Kahlil Gibran - "It is wrong to think that love comes from long companionship and persevering courtship. Love is the offspring of spiritual affinity and unless that affinity is created in a moment, it will not be created for years or even generations."
